PANDEMIC BREAD, 2021

PANDEMIC BREAD, 2021

Existential maps, moments of daily life, pages of an encyclopedia of human experiences in the pandemic period were elaborated in the works on display and in the book “Covid-Roma Express”. The work is part of a project born as an experience: since March 2020, the period of the first lockdown in Italy for the pandemic by Sars-Cov2, and it’s part of the wider social and human investigation that motivates the artistic research of the artist. A research that has given way to deepen and express the personal idea that art has value only if it is able to restore sociality to culture: dignity to live humanity to be social animals, not social.

In the works in this exhibition are used different media – from photography to writing – as a matter to give shape to social denunciation against a system that forgets the last and lets them sink in their primary needs, which – already in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – should be guaranteed to everyone, starting with “daily bread”.

The Pandemic has profoundly transformed humanity into people, accelerating their process of crumbling: behind monitors and screens; inside isolated realities elsewhere, in a non-real or physical space; through social distancing: Perfect alibi to cultivate intolerance and discrimination.

With the clear intention of provoking a reflection, in the installation, there are technology inserts, as a bridge for access to a different dimension and present: in a reality that is simultaneously absent and present – only if called up by a device – to trigger a game of references that leads back to physical reality, however.

One of the QR-codes displayed – if scanned and followed in the references – gives access to an exhibition in the exhibition: a virtual gallery of unpublished images, which refer both to the exhibited work “L’abito non sfama il monaco”, both the book “Covid-Roma Express”.

To don’t forget to look beyond what appears outside the facade walls.
